Search the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator — federal inmates from 1982 to present, both currently incarcerated and released. Search by lastName (+ optional firstName/middleName, age, sex, race) or by exact BOP register number (inmateNumber, e.g. "12345-678"). Each match: full name, register number, sex, race, age, current facility (code/name/type), projected release date, actual release date (when released). KYC, due-diligence, journalism, and background-research staple. Federal public data.
/api/gov/inmate-locatorPAYMENT-SIGNATURE.The inmate locator API is a pay-per-call gov endpoint built for AI agents and autonomous software. Search the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator — federal inmates from 1982 to present, both currently incarcerated and released.
There is no signup and no API key. An agent (or any HTTP client) hits the endpoint, receives an x402 "402 Payment Required" challenge, signs a sub-cent USDC payment on Base or Solana, and retries — the data comes back on the paid request. That makes it a drop-in inmate locator data source for an agent tool-use loop, an MCP host, or a backend that needs gov data on demand without onboarding to yet another vendor portal.
