law.trademark-search

Search US trademarks by wordmark text, owner name, or goods/services — the text search the USPTO offers no public API for. Pass `query` for full-text search (ranked best-match first), or `serial` / `registrationNumber` for an exact record. Filter with `field` (mark|owner|all), `status` (live=registered+pending only, default; all=includes dead/abandoned), and `intlClass` (Nice class, e.g. 9). Returns each mark's wordmark, serial, registration number, status (+ live flag), filing/registration/abandonment dates, owner, international classes, and goods/services. Corpus: USPTO full trademark register (public domain). Use law.trademark-status for live USPTO prosecution detail on a known serial.

Overview

The trademark search API searches the full US trademark register by wordmark text, owner, or goods/services — the text search the USPTO offers no public API for.

Pass query for ranked full-text search, or serial / registrationNumber for an exact record. Filter by field (mark, owner, or all), status (live = registered + pending by default, or all to include dead/abandoned), and Nice international class. Each result returns the wordmark, serial and registration numbers, status and a live flag, filing/registration/abandonment dates, owner, international classes, and goods/services. Public-domain USPTO register. No API key — pay per search with x402. Use the trademark-status endpoint for live prosecution detail on a known serial.

FAQ

Why use this instead of the USPTO site?
The USPTO offers no public API for trademark text search. This endpoint searches the full register (wordmark, owner, goods/services) and returns structured JSON agents can use.
Can I include dead or abandoned marks?
By default status=live returns registered + pending marks only. Pass status=all to include dead/abandoned records.
How do I get live prosecution status for a specific mark?
Use law.trademark-status with a known serial number for live USPTO prosecution detail.
Do I need an API key to use the trademark search API?
No. law.trademark-search is x402-native — there is no signup and no API key. Your client makes the call, receives a 402 with payment requirements, signs a USDC payment, and retries. Funds come from a wallet you control.
How much does the trademark search API cost?
$0.0024 USDC per call, charged per request. There are no monthly fees, seats, or minimums — you pay only for the calls you make.
Can I try the trademark search API for free first?
Yes. Add ?trial=1 (or the header X-2s-Trial: 1) to get a free real call per endpoint per hour, so you can verify the response shape before wiring payment.
Which networks and tokens are supported?
USDC on Base (via EIP-3009 transferWithAuthorization) or Solana (SPL transfer), using the open x402 payment protocol.
How do I call law.trademark-search from an AI agent or MCP host?
Use @2sio/sdk (TypeScript), 2sio (Python), or the @2sio/mcp server for any MCP host — each handles the probe → sign → retry loop for you. See the code samples on this page.
