Enumerate every model a manufacturer sold in a given model year via NHTSA's vPIC taxonomy database. Returns canonical NHTSA Model IDs + names plus the Make ID + name for reference. Useful as a discovery step before VIN decode (when the agent only knows make + year) or as input validation for vehicle.recalls / vehicle.complaints. Backed by NHTSA.gov; data is public-domain US government records.
/api/vehicle/modelsPAYMENT-SIGNATURE.The models API is a pay-per-call vehicle endpoint built for AI agents and autonomous software. Enumerate every model a manufacturer sold in a given model year via NHTSA's vPIC taxonomy database.
There is no signup and no API key. An agent (or any HTTP client) hits the endpoint, receives an x402 "402 Payment Required" challenge, signs a sub-cent USDC payment on Base or Solana, and retries — the data comes back on the paid request. That makes it a drop-in models data source for an agent tool-use loop, an MCP host, or a backend that needs vehicle data on demand without onboarding to yet another vendor portal.
